Zee: And anyway, cantaloupe, let's not open up the rulebook, okay? Since you're up way past your bedtime.

"Bones" is Zee's boyfriend, and the secondary antagonist in Monster House.

Role in the Film:

After discovering that he's getting phone calls from Nebbercracker's house with nobody on the other end, DJ is frightened by Bones who is wearing Chowder's discarded mask, along with Zee, who promptly introduces him to DJ and lectures him about being up late. 

DJ explains to them about what happened with Nebbercracker earlier, but they dismiss his claims. Bones slightly rips DJ's bunny doll to tease him further, inducing Zee to make him knock it off. As DJ sneaks out of the house to meet up with Chowder, he overhears Zee and Bones talking, with Zee stating that maybe DJ was telling the truth about Nebbercracker dying; Bones promptly tells her about, the loss of his "awesome kite" to Nebbercracker when he was ten years old, and that he saw Nebbercracker talking to his house and kissing it. He then tells her that Nebbercracker supposedly ate his wife and roughhouses with Zee. Fed up with Bones being rough with her, Zee kicks him out. 

Bones then goes over to Nebbercracker's house, and throws a bottle at Nebbercracker in spite, but gets no response. Now convinced the man really is dead, he goes a drunken rant tearing up the lawn, still resentful about his favourite kite. In response the house shows him his ''awesome kite,'' using it as bait. Bones happily approaches the kite, too drunk to catch any obvious red flags. He is then eaten by the house. 

At the end of the film, after the house is defeated by DJ, Chowder, and Jenny, Bones emerges from the remains of the house with his kite, and during the credits, he finds Zee, who has since started dating Skull, finding him to be more respectful. However, Bones didn't care and walked away, althrough Zee ended up calling for him, implying it may of been just a test to see how he'd react.

Trivia:

• Bones is mentioned on the game boy advance version of the movie in his kite description furthermore plus, Bones is also not seen in the Nintendo GameCube version, but however he is seen in the Nintendo DS version.
• Bones is voiced by Jason Lee who also voiced Syndrome from the Disney/Pixar’s 2004 film, the incredibles.
• According to monster house the graphic novel it has been revealed that Bones and Skull know each other before the events of the movie.
• Some fans speculated Bones to be the real main antagonist for bullying DJ and breaking DJ's bunny doll.
